Variations of the inferior mirage Glénans Britain France ; It was during a cold February morning that these photos were taken. Taking advantage of the relief of Kermil beach in the seaside resort of Beg Meil, the photographer took pictures at different heights relative to the sea: from 1.5 m to 20 m
Flush with water (top picture), only the tallest structures on the island of sheep appear: lighthouse, wind, "summits" of the island. They seem longer than in reality because they are confused with their relfet by a mirage. Thus, it is clear the island floating above the sea, and be symmetrical about the horizontal. As the photographer climbed onto the beach, the picture becomes clearer and reflections fade: San Nicolas Island finally reached the sea

Mirage of an Omega Sun ; A large anticyclone allows the sky to be very clear for days. The temperature is cool and the sea not too cold, I expect to see a mirage in the lower tidal sea. This type of phenomenon could help to observe the green flash.
The Sun is now setting on the ocean. Shortly before his blade does touch the sea bottom, a bright spot appears on the surface of water: this is proof that a inferior mirage is visible. Thus, the Sun seems to be reflected on the sea, even if it is not the same phenomenon (a mirage is not just a reflection!).
