Hoosier cavefish, Amblyopsis hoosieri. It's a subterranean species of blind fish from southern Indiana in the United States of America. This species is threatened by a number of factors: sedimentation from agriculture, human encroachment on its habitat, groundwater pollution and over-collection of samples for scientific study. Described in 2014 it was the first new species of amblyopsid cavefish to be discovered in 40 years. In aquarium. Eggs are brooded in the females' gill cavity.Hoosier cavefish, Amblyopsis hoosieri. Mexican tetra or blind cave fish Astyanax mexicanus. Two form of this fish. The surface-dwelling form (up) is something of a generalist and can be found in all kinds of habitat from flowing streams and rivers to ponds and lakes. The blind form (bellow) occurs only in underground caves and caverns. The two may have diverged as recently as within the last 10,000 years, with the blind form losing its eyes and much of its pigment. It uses its lateral line to detect small changes in the water pressure around it, allowing it to navigate and find food. From Pantepec RiverMexican tetra or blind cave fish Astyanax mexicanus.
