With a scientific background, I’ve chosen to become a teacher and I am now living in a small distant village in the heart of the quite protected National Park of the Northern Vosges, France.
My passion for nature progressively made me want to deepen my photographical skills. With my camera, I am able to run into emblematic species everyday, such as the peregrine falcon or the white-throated dipper. But it’s in the regular observation of common species that I am trying to show the very simple beauty of animals, and of the surrounding nature that often goes unnoticed. Sometimes a chickadee, when under a specific light or condition, a fox looking for food or a single dewdrop can be really amazing through a camera.
My photographical approach is really simple and can be summed up in two words: observe and wait. First I have to wait for the animal and then for the perfect time to trigger… I am not in any animal stalking or what could be called a ‘photo hunt’. My first aim is to make use of nature to show its true side without any staging or perturbation.
The sensations that we can feel being alone near this fearful and secret life is worth the waiting time and the best pictures aren’t the printed one, but those in our minds. Maybe I’ll be a bit caricatural but I really think that an animal picture is sending a message of respect and humility regarding to the whole world and especially to nature, within sharing concerns.
