1978-82 Watch-leader and master rigger on reconstruction and sailing project for China Clippers Society

1982 Founder/fundraiser of/for “Clipper Challenge” Raised £150.000 sponsored by B.E.T. Plc

1982-88 Diver in North Sea oil industry

1986 Maritime co-ordinator for Anglo American project “Godspeed to America” (on behalf of State of Virginia)

1987/8 Fundraiser for formula 2000 driver. Raised funding to set up a F3000 racing team.

1989-2003 Founded and ran Western Isles Sailing and Exploration co Ltd (director) Ran whale-watching holidays in Hebrides, Canaries, Azores, Norway and Madeira. Assisted in various cetacean surveys, d.n.a. sampling programmes, film documentaries, BBC, Nat Geo etc

1999 (4 months) Assisted in killer whale documentary in Crozet archipelago for BBC Nat geo.

2000 - to current Established Oceanus Ltd. Run whale-watching holidays in Dominica, Hebrides, Mexico, Canaries, Mediterranean, Belize and others

2002-2004 Established Oceanus Films (Partner).

2004 - 2008 Founded Club Marguerite. A private club, the aim of which is to sail around the world on their own vessel, looking for cetaceans.

2010 Bought my own boat with the aim of sailing around the world to look for and photograph whales.
