Photographe indépendant, Philippe Giraud est né en Provence
Depuis trente ans, poussé par la curiosité, il a franchi océans et montagnes, à la découverte des paysages et des peuples de la terre, en Amérique, Afrique, Asie, Europe, tantôt le nez au vent, se laissant entraîner au gré des rencontres, tantôt dans des expéditions bien définies : chevauchée de 1 000 km sur la route royale des Incas (Equateur - Pérou), ascension du Daulaghiri (Himalaya), descente de l'Orénoque (Amazonie), mission humanitaire à Baranquilla (Colombie), traversée à pied de 1 400 km des Pyrénées à la mer du Nord en suivant la Méridienne verte (France), suivi à pied du littoral atlantique de Dunkerque à Brest (France)... Glanant de ci de là, non pas le sensationnel, mais cet instant privilégié cher à tous les photographes : l'instant, le regard, qui traduit mille mots, mille sentiments, de la joie au drame. Et c'est sur ce territoire de l'émotion que les photographies de Philippe Giraud nous invitent.
Des images parfois publiées : magazines, édition, agence de photographie, expositions, tandis que d'autres attendent secrètement leur heure dans l'ombre des archives.
