Alexis Chappuis is a French marine biologist, technical scientific diver and photographer living in Indonesia. His main interest today relies on using photography to document the poorly-known and hardly-accessible underwater environments, notably Mesophotic Coral Ecosystems, at depths of 40 to 120 metres. But more generally, Alexis is interested in making the unseen visible, as when people can admire the singularity and richness of hidden wildlife and ecosystems, they are more likely to feel connected to them and protect them. From his backyard to the depths of the oceans, he hopes that his photos somehow will contribute to raise public awareness of the raw beauty and fragility of the natural world that we are all a part of.
