Sheep carcass after a storm blasted France ; In the PN Mercantour August 5, 2006 more than 200 sheep were struck by lightning during a summer hailstorm of unprecedented violence in the Col de la Bonnette at lake level to 2400 m Eissaupres Upper Ubaye. This massacre is probably due to the fact that the animals were massed against one another when the lightning struck.
