The macro plankton attracted by the light of my lighthouses were caught by the tentacles of a Cerianthidae. The Cerianthidae is close to the sea anemones. It has more than 200 tentacles at its upper end, arranged in several rings around the mouth. There are two types of tentacles of different colours. The longer ones are positioned at the periphery and the shorter ones near the mouth. To feed, the cerianthidae captures animal plankton with its long tentacles. These then fold in towards the centre to transfer the food to the shorter tentacles, which lead them to the mouth.
