The bird is a Ruffed Grouse (Bonasa umbellus) and has been photographed in Jacque-Cartier National Park in Quebec (Canada) where its abundance is very high. Very surprised by the proximity of this meeting, I lay down on the floor a few minutes to be at its height. I then opted for the wide angle to put it in its environment: the boreal forest. Then I continued my hike to leave it alone. Galliformes are very territorial during the bridal period and come quickly to meet us in areas where they are not hunted.
