When we think about pollination, we usually think of insects. But in some places like New Zealand, birds play a big part in the pollination of some plant species. Here, Tui (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae) feeds on the nectar of a harakeke flower. Thus, the pollen of the flower clings to its feathers and will then fall into other flowers. I realized this image near a small lake where a Tui was feeding and didn’t care about my presence, a magical moment. Tui is one of the endemic species of New Zealand.
