Yvette Tavernier is a photographer specializing in underwater photography. Trained as both a graphic designer and physical education teacher, she discovered diving and quickly shifted her focus to photography and audiovisual production. Her images and slideshows have won awards at numerous international festivals dedicated to underwater photography.
She has led educational projects in partnership with national museums, notably for the design of exhibitions and audiovisual materials. Her work highlights marine fauna and ecosystems, and she has introduced her students to diving in Brittany and the Red Sea. Her skills are also sought after for the production of institutional films such as Le récif corallien (Nausicaa) and Les crevettes (Centre de la Mer et des Eaux).
Her career has been recognized with several awards at the World Festival of Underwater Image, including Plongeurs d'Or (Golden Divers) in photography and slideshows, as well as Palmes d'Or (Golden Palms) and Palmes d'Argent (Silver Palms) for her cinematographic achievements. She has also won awards in various underwater photography and film competitions in Italy, Belgium, Russia, the Czech Republic, Canada, and the Netherlands.
Yvette Tavernier contributes illustrations to books and magazines in Europe. She is also the co-author of several reference books on marine wildlife and diving (Les poissons du bord de mer, L’encyclopédie de la plongée, L’art de l’aquarium, Nature en bord de mer) and has contributed to the illustration of educational CD-ROMs such as Histoires de poissons.
