Saverio Gatto is an Italian naturalist photographer, best known for his exceptional ornithological photographs. Born in 1975, he discovered his passion for nature at an early age, which naturally led him to photography from 1994 onwards. Since then, he has accumulated thousands of images of birds in the Western Palearctic, exploring the wildest parts of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East without guides or tour operators, always guided by his desire for immersion and authenticity.
His work is distinguished by the ability to capture intimate and powerful moments of wildlife, including portraits of birds and mammals, often under demanding conditions. Among his honors, he won the “Best Portrait” award at the prestigious Bird Photographer of the Year in 2018, as well as the “Human and Nature” award at the Asferico competition in 2019. He also won awards at the Vogelwarte 2020 and EuroNatur 2021 competitions, underlining the international recognition of his talent.
Passionate about sharing and transmitting, Saverio organizes workshops, courses and photographic trips, enabling other enthusiasts to discover the beauty of nature and sharpen their eyes. Through his images, he hopes to raise public awareness of the richness and fragility of natural environments, inviting everyone to become aware of the losses we are inflicting on our planet if we continue to neglect it.
