Samuel Blanc is a French biologist and photographer from the Chartreuse Mountains in Isère. His early interest in nature led him to become involved in environmental protection organizations, then to study ecology and natural area management. He then joined the League for the Protection of Birds in Isère, where he developed solid experience in scientific outreach to schoolchildren and the general public.
A specialist in polar regions, he spent fifteen months wintering in Adélie Land at the French Dumont d'Urville scientific base. There, he monitored bird and seal populations for the CNRS and the French Polar Institute, acquiring field expertise in the extreme conditions of Antarctica. Drawing on this experience, he now works as a tour guide and naturalist in the Arctic, Antarctic, tropical regions, and Europe, where he accompanies scientific expeditions and discovery trips.
Also an author and photographer, Samuel Blanc uses his images and stories as educational tools to share his knowledge and raise awareness about the fragility of ecosystems. He is co-founder and president of the Collectif pour la Connaissance des Pôles, an organization dedicated to disseminating knowledge about the Arctic and Antarctic. His career illustrates the complementary nature of scientific research, educational commitment, and image promotion in the service of protecting the planet's most sensitive natural environments.
