A nature photographer and bioacoustician, Pierre Huguet-Dubief captures the biodiversity of tropical and island ecosystems to raise awareness about their conservation.
Pierre Huguet-Dubief is a wildlife photographer and naturalist. Trained as a landscape architect and urban planner, he turned his personal research toward ornithology and the study of natural environments at an early age. His first observation sites took him to key areas of European biodiversity, such as the Guadalquivir Delta, the Danube Delta, the Hungarian Puszta, and Lake Mikri Prespa, where he developed expertise in birdlife and its habitats.
He then took part in several scientific and naturalist expeditions to the Amazon, Papua New Guinea, and Congo-Brazzaville. These trips marked a turning point in his practice, leading him to explore bioacoustics alongside photography. Numerous sound recordings were then published under specialized labels and used in research on animal vocalizations.
Pierre Huguet-Dubief subsequently settled in the Indian Ocean, notably in the Comoros and Mayotte, where he devoted himself entirely to nature photography and the transmission of environmental knowledge. His images and writings are part of an educational approach aimed at raising awareness of conservation issues and documenting local and global biodiversity.
A member of Biosphoto since 2003, he combines naturalist observation, scientific approach, and documentary rigor. Through his photographs, recordings, and publications, he contributes to a better understanding of the interactions between wildlife, ecosystems, and human activities, with a particular focus on island and tropical environments.
