Under his lens, frogs and hummingbirds become the heroes of a forgotten world.

Jorge Figueroa is a Mexican naturalist photographer and field biologist based in the south of the country, in one of the most biodiverse regions in the world. From childhood, he developed a fascination for the ecosystems of his native country, which he began to explore with passion, notebook and camera in hand. This dual approach - scientific and artistic - quickly became the core of his work.

Specialising in discreet wildlife photography, Jorge excels in capturing insects, reptiles, amphibians and even small mammals, which he photographs in situ, with remarkable attention to behaviour and the environment. His images of pollinating bats, hummingbirds in flight and tree frogs testify to his technical mastery and deep respect for living things. His approach combines documentary rigour and sensitive aesthetics, highlighting the unsuspected richness of tropical micro-habitats.

Some of his photographs have won awards in international competitions. Committed to conservation, Jorge uses images as a tool to raise awareness: his aim is not only to document, but also to raise awareness of the fragility of natural environments, particularly in the rainforests of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Montebello, which he regularly surveys.

With patience and humility, Jorge Figueroa opens a window onto a world that is often invisible, precious and threatened.
