Based in Brittany, Jean-Alain Mayet has been photographing the wildlife and landscapes around him for decades. A passionate naturalist, he takes a patient, attentive look at living things, often capturing them just a stone's throw from his home, in his garden or in the Breton bocage. Birds, small mammals, insects, storm light or morning mist: each image reveals a discreet fragment of nature, captured with respect and sensitivity.
His travels - to India, Africa, South America and Madagascar - have enriched his vision without ever distracting him from his guiding principle: to photograph life where it is seen, without artifice. His work, exhibited in several cultural venues in Finistère, bears witness to an ethical and poetic approach to wildlife photography, at once modest, committed and profoundly human.
