Gérard Bodineau is a French photographer with a passion for the polar regions and extreme landscapes. Trained as a computer engineer, he discovered photography during his studies and quickly associated it with his love of the mountains and wide open spaces. His many expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic - on skis, in a kayak or on a sailing boat - have fuelled a body of work marked by exploration and contemplation.
Initially focusing on landscapes (ice floes, icebergs, polar lights), his work gradually opened up to wildlife: polar bears, walruses, seabirds. A pioneer in the use of digital tools, Bodineau excels in the creation of 360° panoramas and immersive images, combining technical precision with artistic flair. He puts his skills at the service of demanding, rigorous and poetic photography.
The author of several books, including Fauna and Flora of the Far North, Spitzbergen: The Svalbard Archipelago and a guide to Greenland, he shares his knowledge and his vision with a wide audience. Through his images, Gérard Bodineau invites us to discover the beauty and fragility of the polar world, and to reflect on the environmental issues that threaten it.
