A naturalist photographer based in the Vosges (France), Fabrice Cahez focuses his work on carnivorous mammals (foxes, wildcats, badgers, martens, etc.) and waterfowl, which he observes and photographs in their natural habitats, particularly the forests of the Vosges and the wetlands of western France. His work is based on in-depth knowledge of the terrain, rigorous observation and hours of patient stalking.
Trained in ethology through practice, he devotes a large part of his year to following the behavioural cycles of species. His approach aims to document local wildlife without artifice or disturbance, capturing natural interactions in sometimes demanding light and weather conditions. He pays particular attention to discreet species, often unknown to the general public, and to their adaptation to changing environments.
The author of several reference works on foxes, forest cats and wintering birds, he combines photography, writing and communication in a coherent approach to raising awareness. He also takes part in nature festivals and conferences, where he shares his expertise and field observations.
His work is based on a scientific and educational approach, adapted to the needs of publishing, environmental mediation and specialised audiovisual production.
