A French scientist by training and former teacher, Emmanuel Baechler lives in an isolated hamlet in the heart of the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, a preserved environment that nourishes his photographic work. His approach consists of patiently observing the local wildlife and waiting for the right moment to take a picture, without disturbing the animals or resorting to “photo hunting”.
His goal is to show nature as it is, without staging, highlighting ordinary biodiversity as well as iconic species. His images depict scenes from everyday life—chickadees, foxes searching for food, dewdrops—as well as more elusive species such as peregrine falcons and dippers.
This photographic practice, based on scientific rigor and respect for natural environments, produces authentic images that are useful for naturalist illustration, raising awareness of biodiversity, and environmental communication. Emmanuel Baechler's photographs are a resource for publishers, museums, associations, and companies wishing to promote knowledge and protection of nature.
