Dominique Halleux is a French nature photographer based in Brittany, in charge of the Conservatoire du littoral. Born in Alsace in 1953, he discovered Brittany at an early age and developed a passion for ornithology. At the age of 15, he took his first photograph of a bird, beginning a rigorous practice focused on coastal species and migratory birds, particularly geese in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.
After studying agricultural engineering and spending several years in Madagascar, he joined the Conservatoire, where he combined fieldwork and photography. His approach is based on close and continuous observation of the local fauna, which he has been documenting for several decades.
As well as birds, he is also interested in moths, regularly leading nocturnal outings to help people discover this little-known fauna. He also organises exhibitions in Brittany, notably at Les Rosaires and the Maison du Littoral, showcasing local biodiversity.
Since 2022, he has worked as a freelance professional photographer, offering training, nature activities and photography services, with images available on a rights-managed basis. In this way, Dominique Halleux combines naturalist knowledge with documentary requirements, in the service of environmental knowledge and conservation.
