Born in the Croix-Rousse district of Lyon, French underwater photographer Didier Brandelet also works as an independent graphic designer in the fields of sports and healthcare. His passion for diving began at the age of eight in the Mediterranean and has led him to complete several thousand dives around the world.
It was in the Red Sea, in the southern Sinai Peninsula, that Didier Brandelet began underwater photography, using a Nikonos-type waterproof film camera. A long stay in Egypt allowed him to meet and work alongside several professional photographers, helping him refine his technique and his approach to composition, light and the behaviour of marine species. This period shaped his working method: each dive became an opportunity to experiment with new viewpoints and improve the quality of his images.
His photographic work is mainly devoted to marine environments, coral reefs and underwater wildlife. He pays particular attention to lighting conditions, atmospheres and interactions between organisms, seeking to capture the diversity of aquatic ecosystems. His photographs have been published in various media devoted to the marine world and travel.
