Claudius Thiriet is a French photographer specialising in nature, the environment and agriculture, which he explores with a sensitive, rigorous and thoroughly documented eye. An agricultural engineer, he draws on his solid knowledge of agronomy, geology and geography to develop a unique approach to photography, combining science, fieldwork and artistic expression.
For several decades now, Claudius Thiriet has been travelling the length and breadth of France and the world, on foot or by microlight, to capture the richness of rural landscapes, domestic animals and farmland. He strives to reveal the discreet beauty and complexity of the farming world, through images that tell the story of life in the countryside and the evolution of farming practices.
His book Campagne intime is an emblematic work that brings together more than 30 years of observation and photography into the intimacy of the rural world. He is also co-author of Planète Moselle, a photographic work taken from the air, which offers an unprecedented view of Lorraine's landscape heritage. A versatile photographer, he provides visuals for the press, publishing, corporate communications and advertising. His work is aimed at people working in rural areas, as well as regional planners, local authorities, teachers and nature lovers.
Through his lens, Claudius Thiriet seeks to highlight the sustainable relationship between man, the land and living things.
