Wildlife photographer and mountain guide Bastien Chaix is particularly interested in the ecosystems of Central Asia and the Himalayas. After starting out in ornithology with studies on Bonelli's eagle, he moved on to leading scientific and nature trips, particularly in Kyrgyzstan, focusing on research and observation of the snow leopard. His mountain guide certification now allows him to lead trips to Kyrgyzstan, Ladakh, and Mongolia, combining photography with nature education.
His experience as a shepherd in the Alps and Provence has strengthened his connection to the pastoral world and his pragmatic approach to the field. This dual expertise in rural life and natural history feeds his photographic vision, which focuses on the interactions between wildlife, natural spaces, and local communities.
Bastien Chaix's photography highlights iconic and often elusive species such as the Pallas's cat, the Tibetan wild ass, and the paradoxical syrrhapt. His images are the result of rigorous observation, focusing on scientific documentation and the promotion of large high-altitude spaces. Central Asia and the Himalayas are his favorite territories, where he continues his ongoing work on wildlife and landscapes.
