Adam Fletcher is an Australian nature photographer, born in Sydney in 1973. His passion for photography began in high school, where he experimented with black and white film developed in his own darkroom. With the rise of digital photography, Adam started spending more time outdoors, capturing landscapes and wildlife — a journey that eventually led him to the fascinating world of macro photography.
It was the discovery of tiny jumping spiders — Peacock spiders (Maratus) — that completely transformed his photographic focus. Since first encountering these dazzling creatures, Adam has devoted much of his work to documenting their vibrant patterns and captivating behaviors. His dedication has led to collaborations with leading Australian and international scientists, and he has even contributed to the discovery of several new species — including Maratus fletcheri, named in his honor.
Adam’s highly detailed images, often created through meticulous focus stacking techniques, have been published in numerous Australian publications. Beyond their visual appeal, his photographs aim to reveal the hidden beauty of the miniature world — to inspire curiosity, wonder, and a deeper appreciation for the incredible creatures that often go unnoticed.
