Adansonia grandideri is the most majestic of the 6 endemic Malagasy species. You can find it on the west coast, between Morombe and Morondava. The old trees can reach 25 meters high and 3 or 4 meters wide when they are hundreds of years. The spongy wood is used as a water stock in drought periods. They are threatened by culture and bush fires that destroy dry forest, where baobabs grow.
